Don’t Worry, Be Happy!
“Worrying won’t stop the bad stuff from happening, it just stops you from enjoying the good”
It seems like it’s pretty easy when you read this quote, but … I am struggling with it quite regularly. ;-) So… let’s make it simple. ‘Don’t Worry and Be Happy!’ Worry is a total waste of time. It doesn’t change anything. It messes with your mind and steals your happiness. And above all, many of the worries we have today will probably not be so important a year from now.
There are undoubtedly 100s of things you can do to worry less and to be happier, but below the most important ones that are helping me.
Know who you are and like yourself: Stay true, Stay you. Be yourself, be proud, be confident. The more you love your decisions, the less you need others to love them. This was challenging for me but it’s getting better. I think it becomes easier when you are getting older. :-)
Have a positive attitude: Stop thinking of what you don’t want. When you focus on the happy stuff, you forget about the other things. Talking about our problems is our greatest addiction. Break the habit. Talk about your joys! And have a simple pleasure to look forward to every day.
Appreciate your life: Appreciate what you have. Complain less and appreciate more. Put things in perspective. Know that’s it’s okay to be sad sometimes. Life does not have to be perfect to be wonderful.
Distract yourself: Take Action! Read a book, call a friend, listen to your favorite music, get sunlight and fresh air and take a walk, try a new recipe, go to the cinema and watch a new movie, climb on a tire swing, go out dancing, sing in the shower, stretch, find a hobby you enjoy, start a blog, do Pilates or whatever activity you like. There’s dozens of things you can do to distract yourself from things you don’t want to think about.
Take care of your health and well being: Make time for yourself every day. Give yourself some of your own best attention. Stop trying to be strong, to keep going, be honest with yourself. Don’t rush all the time. Eat Healthy. The better you treat yourself – the happier you are.
Carpe diem & Have fun: Live for today and enjoy the moment. Never forget your inner child! Don’t take yourself too seriously. Keep your humor. Life is definitely more fun when you’re laughing. Life is short, make fun of it! :-)
What a wonderful post, I so agree with everything and love your quote picture collection again. As you say , since I am older this all makes sense to me, but when you are young you think differently. I am more appreciative, more grateful, see the little joys and notice more miracles in life. Life is deeper now, more enjoyable and I love it! Thank you for you great post!
Thank you Ute for your lovely comment. I am happy that you do recognize it as well… but I wish I had some of these wise thoughts a bit earlier, but in the end it’s better to have them now than never. :-) A wonderful Sunday!
I think distracting myself has been one of the biggest things that has helped me when it comes to worrying. Sometimes I worry because I have too much time to think about things that will never happen and if I replace that time with something I enjoy doing then I don’t worry anymore. Great post!
Thanks for reading my post and your comment. It’s definitely true and I recognize your point. Have a lovely Sunday!!
I love this! And again your collage of quotes, its so great. I really like your first point of knowing who you are, it’s important to be confident in your decisions.. but easier said than done for sure!
Thanks for reading my post and for your nice comment(s). Yes, it’s absolutely true that the first point is easier said than done. It’s still a struggle for me sometimes but is definitely getting better. :-) Have a wonderful Sunday.
Aw, looks like you served us a little slice of Tumblr along with that warm cup of inspiration. This article felt like spring, smelled like daisies and sounded like twittering birds. I don’t have synesthesia, the article was just -that- stimulating.
Thankyou for not only visiting, reading but also being generous enough to star my article. If you liked what you saw, stay tuned :)
