Enjoy the Moment!

‘We are always getting ready to live, but never living’ ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

This is so true. I think that most of us are doing this every single day. We plan and we say ‘I will do that when….’ But are we doing all that ‘getting ready’ and missing out on the bigger picture. This is life, and this is it.

One of the reasons I started this blog is to enjoy and appreciate the little things in life more, to enjoy the moment more. Try not to go with the flow every day. Try not letting me stressed up by the hectic of daily life and/or by all my thoughts. A lot of good things in life are free: hugs, smiles, friends, family, sunshine, kisses, sleep, love & good memories!

To be honest, it’s not always that easy to live in the moment. After all, life is so busy. It’s difficult to find a quiet moment to begin with. How can you enjoy the present moment? Here are two things that are helping me to enjoy the moment more:

1. Try doing just one thing at a time. Living in the moment means focusing on it, and that’s difficult to do when you’re doing more than one thing at a time. Try leaving the multitasking madness behind – even try it just for some hours. Let go of the need to do a few things at once, and focus on each task individually – even relaxing. You’ll find that attention makes the end results all that much better for your efforts.

2. Stop thinking so much about the future and the past.  Even if your body is only doing one task at a time, that doesn’t mean your mind is cooperating. Try to take in everything that’s going on around you: sights, smells and sounds. If you feel your thoughts drifting to the future or the past, just bring yourself back to the present and immerse yourself in whatever you are doing, no matter what it is. Try it once a day when you catch your mind wandering or concentrating on worries. See if it helps you enjoy the moment more.

‘If you spend your whole life waiting for the storm, you’ll never enjoy the sunshine’  I really love this quote. Carpe Diem! Happy Weekend!
