7 Simple Rules for Happiness
Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated – (Confucius)
Just 7 simple rules and then you’re set! Promise! :-) And “no”, I don’t put them all into practice every day ;-) but at least I am aware of them and try to enjoy life, cherish special moments and give love & warmth as much as possible.
Sometimes it helps to change your mindset – take a different look at yourself – or take a look at the world from a different angle. Just try it!
1. Have Faith
Sometimes the best thing you can do is not think, not wonder, not imagine, not obsess. Just breathe. And have faith that everything will work out for the best, maybe not how you planned, but just how it’s meant to be.
2. Keep Trying
Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don’t who will. And eventually, don’t stop because it’s hard, stop because you’ve tried your best.
3. Keep it Simple
I believe we sometimes forget to remind ourselves to step back, breathe, and appreciate the simple things in life. In the end it’s the little things in life that bring happiness!
4. Free your mind from worries
There will always be troubles, worries, doubts and sorrows, but worrying is very often a waste of time. It doesn’t change anything. It messes with your mind and steals your happiness.
And many of the worries we have today will probably not be so important a year from now. Focus on the things that make you happy! One of my favorite quotes all time: “If you spend your whole life waiting for the storm, You’ll never enjoy the sunshine”
5. Don’t take yourself too seriously all the time
Know when to laugh at yourself. And if you finally manage to do this more often – it’s likely you’ll be able to cope much more effectively with the obstacles. Stop being so hard at yourself.
6. Give More
“It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” – (Mother Teresa). Treat others how you expect to be treated. And doesn’t it feel good to do something for the people around you. Everything around us is made up of energy. To attract positive things in your life, start by giving off positive energy.
7. Expect Less
The only expectations you should live up to are the ones you expect of yourself.” Never expect things to happen. It’s better to feel surprised than to feel disappointed.
